Adapted Bikes for Disabilities
For 15 years, Rossendale Rays Swimming Club have offered swimming sessions for those with special needs, as well as their friends, families and carers. Swimming is a great way to get everyone together, no matter the age or ability, Rossendale Rays are enabling those that may struggle in day to day life a place to go to socialise, make friends and have fun.
For a while, the Rossendale Rays have organised fund raising bike rides to help keep the club going, and now they want their members to join them on more regular rides. And so the Rossendal Rays Cycling Club is formed.
We spoke to Anthony about the new club:
"As a Special Needs swimming club we are trying to start a Special Needs cycling club using adapted bikes for our members who suffer from a wide range of disabilities. We hope this will help to allow those special people to experience cycling with their family and friends."
The Alpkit Foundation were delighted to lend a hand when, Anthony and the Rossendale Rays got in touch with us to request help in funding for the adapted bikes they were in need of to get the new cycle club up and running.
Anthony told us that "a fantasticgroup of special children who have limited opportunities in life" would be benefiting from the new club, so we jumped at the chance to help out.
