There's just so much to do around Metrocentre. Here are some of our favourites.

• Pedalling Squares
• A cycle-orientated café located 5 minutes away from the shop and right on the Derwent walk leading to the Pennines.

• Causey Arch
• A 10 minute drive away, Causewey Arch is the world's oldest surviving single arch railway bridge. It's sat in a local wildlife site with picnic areas and scenic walks.

• Pennines
• The nearest set of mountains, a gold mine of cycle routes and unforgettable walks. Cycle from coast to coast, follow the Coast and Castle's route to Edinburgh, or cruise into the Tyne Valley to start the Sandstone way.

• Hadrian's wall
• 73 miles of history. A World Heritage Site spanning from sea to sea and showcasing 900 year old Roman architecture. This phenomenon also boasts walking and cycle routes.
