With a rental mat, you can try out different styles and sizes to find what suits your climbing style and favourite locations. How do I arrange to rent a mat?

You can rent a mat using our booking form on this page or enquiring in store.

What if I decide to buy a bouldering mat after my renting?

If you decide to buy one following your ride we'll refund the rental cost from the final amount.

How will I receive my mat?

Collect your mat from your selected Alpkit store. You will be able to collect from 10am and return by 5pm.

I need to cancel my booking, what is your policy?

We understand that sometimes you may need to cancel your booking. Please contact the store at least 24 hours before, and we’ll transfer your booking to another day (subject to availability).

Can I pay in cash?

As a condition of our insurance, we ask for all hires to be paid by credit or debit card.

What is the minimum age to hire your mats?

The hirer must be a person aged 18 years or over. Evidence of age may be requested.

What about insurance?

You are responsible for the mat and yourself whilst in possession of the mat, and you are responsible for providing your own insurance protection whilst using the mat.

Terms and conditions

The hirer is fully responsible for their actions whilst using the rental mat. Alpkit do not accept responsibility for the actions of the participant nor the consequences of such actions. 

The hirer is responsible for providing their own insurance protection while using a rental mat. Any accident or injury caused by the hirer’s actions will be the full responsibility of said hirer. 

The hirer will be fully responsible for any fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident either involving or caused by the hirer. 

The hirer agrees that they are physically and mentally capable of climbing/bouldering.

The hirer must be a person aged 18 years or over. Evidence of age may be requested. 

It is strongly recommended that renters of mats hired from us wear a helmet at all times. Alpkit reserve the right to refuse rental mats use to anyone with inappropriate equipment or clothing. Alpkit is not responsible for damage to clothing and/or personal items. 

The hirer agrees to return the mat to the rental mat staff. Failure to return the mat will result in Alpkit recovering the full retail value of the mat from the hirer. 

The hirer is responsible for any negligent damage caused to the mat. The cost of any damage caused (over and above standard wear and tear) will be recovered from the hirer.

Photo ID must be provided before the rental mat(s) will be released to the hirer. Only nationally recognised forms of ID will be accepted i.e. Photo driving license and passport. This will be kept in a secure location for the duration of the hire period.

Late return of the rental mat or damage to the rental mat that will effect the experience of subsequent hires will be charged at £10.
