Pip Buster and Pip's dad, embarking on cycling adventures with family.
Pip emailed in a good few months ago now with some pictures of her, her Dad and theirtwo springers walking the Coast to Coast. They were planning on walking the Cape Wrath Trail last May, hopefully they have completed it and can let us know how they got on!
Here's what she had to say.
"I am in the throes of planning my summer adventure with my Dad (aged 70!). We are very lucky to live in Snowdonia but occasionally it's nice to get away. We have both walked the C2C a few times wild camping obviously carrying our kit (not the cheating way and having our bags collected. Our plan for May is to do the Cape Wrath Trail, and I openly admit that I am pretty terrified at the prospect! Last year on the C2C I was carrying about 35Llb and Dad around 47Llb and I did struggle a bit with the impact on my feet and I think both of us shouldn't really be carrying this amount for the 3 -4 weeks on the CWT. We will also be carrying dog food which adds to the weight. Unfortunately I only replaced my mummy sleeping bag 2 years ago but it really is too big and heavy for this trip. A friend of mine suggested a quilt as an option as it would also help keep Buster my springer warm. I actually don't like the confinement of a toe box and I have never used the hood even at -5 at Angletarn!
Quite honestly I would be willing to do pretty much anything (within reason) to try and lighten the load for my Dad who although still thinks he is Peter Pan has actually just turned 70. He has been wanting to make this trip for 4 years but health and life have gotten in the way. Although I've done the Coast to Coast a couple of times hard packing and walk in Snowdonia to say I'm apprehensive about this is a massive understatement. To be honest I wouldn't be attempting it if it wasn't because my Peter Pan dad wasn't intent on doing it. I'm absolutely terrified!
Anyway thanks for your reply it has spurred me on. Here's some pics of C2C."
Thanks again Pip, it's good to hear about our customer's adventures!
