Top Spots: Ambleside Activities

When you’re opening your second store, you tend visit it a fair bit to see how things are going, chat to the team, or pick up a paintbrush and get stuck in.

In which case, why not open up a store in a place that you really love, where you’d be able to make the most of the local area after a day of work, a place that you’ll want to visit all the time? That’s how we ended up in Ambleside.

This way to Ambleside!

If you're coming to visit over the long weekend (or over a short weekend, or even a normal-length weekend), you may as well make the most of everything that Ambleside and its surroundings has to offer. Here are a few of our favourite activities, for more ideas to fill your trip why not ask our Store Heroes about their favourite adventure destinations?

Watersports

Whether your vessel takes the form of a kayak, a canoe, a paddle board or a sailing boat, you'll revel in the water wonderland around Ambleside. Boat hire and tuition is available throughout the Lake District, and you'll find that at our neighbouring Lake Windermere alone you'll be spoilt for choice!

Mountain Biking

Apparently, Ambleside has a reputation for being a little bit rainy in the winter (we don't know where that idea came from!). Despite the area's proclivity for precipitation, you'll find some of Lake District's most waterproof terrain around our town. With steep climbs and technical trails, biking here will make everywhere else you've ridden look as tame and gentle as Hobbiton.

remote crags bucket list for some inspiration?

It's impossible to get away from wonderful views in the Lakes.

Our local

There's nothing better than a warm pub after a day of adventure. Marketing Man Dan recommends The Golden Rule. When we're not off exploring, you might find us inZeferrelli'sCinema too.

The Bridge House

It's one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District, but you should see it for yourself anyway!
