Well its been a busy few months, I’ve moved down to Nottingham and started a new job, I’ve finally got used to work and have got used to 15 mile round trip on my bike, for which my Gordon dry bag is fantastic no matter what the weather!

So I now have my weekends to myself for the first time in years, so I’m trying to make up for lost time. There have been several highlights; a weeks paddling over new year in Scotland, this was not quite what we expected the temperature never made it above freezing all week, the rivers were frozen, the lochs were frozen, the ground was frozen, everything was frozen. We only managed to paddle twice throughout the whole week, the rest of time we kept ourselves amused by some winter walking, Ben Nevis, The Lost Valley to name a few. Bill learnt the basics in crampons and ice axe work and was hooked so of we went!

Since then I have returned to Scotland for a long weekend of snowboarding to the Nevis Range which I would definitely recommend. We had excellent snow conditions and some spectacular views!

I’ve also been trying out my new freestyle boat the Jackson Star whenever I get the chance (which is fantastic). I’ve been heading down to Hurley when ever it’s working to get some training days in prior to selection, which is only a few weeks away now. We even managed to have it to ourselves on Sunday, everyone else’s excuse was it was to cold! My training is going well and has been boosted by my new boat :o) I’ll keep you updated with how it goes!
