A one day practical Peak District Navigation Course geared to giving you a taste of the skills you need to get out exploring the tracks and trails of the UK.
Aimed at beginners wanting to start self-guided walks in the hills, our Right Way In A Day Navigation Course offers a good introduction to the fundamentals of navigation.
What to Expect:
You will develop knowledge in the theory and use of maps, grid references, scales and rights of way and all the practical tools for navigation including the use of a compass to set the map and check direction.
- Suitable clothing including good waterproofs
- Comfortable walking footwear with good tread
- Lunch and a good supply of snacks
- Plenty of water
- Warm clothing including spare layers, gloves and hat
- Sun cream, hat and sunglasses
- A compass if you have one
PureOutdoor provide maps and have some compasses available to borrow or buy

No. You must have a valid Big Shakeout weekend ticket to participate in any School of Adventure Activities. Any orders for activities without a Big Shakeout weekend ticket will be cancelled and refunded.
You will receive an email confirmation with an order reference number upon completing your order. Your order number is your unique reference number, bring it along with you and present it at along with your name at the School of Adventure Meeting Point.
We will do everything we can to make sure your chosen activity goes ahead, however in some circumstances a course may have to be cancelled due to weather or lack of numbers. In these cases we will either offer you a place on an alternative activity or refund.
