The Cwtch is a quintessential bobble hat. It’s constructed of 50% Merino wool and 50% acrylic. The acrylic keeps it durable and a lighter weight, while the Merino wool is naturally odour resistant. Now, nobody can call you “smelly head”. Even if you’re a stranger to the washing machine.

  • Made with odour-resistant Merino wool to help regulate your temperature
  • Blended with acrylic for quick drying and increased durability
  • Fold-over headband keeps your ears warm and happy

When the Cwtch Beanie bobbled its way into Alpkit HQ, we all revelled in its cosy glory. Arguments ensued about who would be the first to get their favourite colour. There was blood, sweat and tears. And friendship breakdowns. OK, not quite, but…

Merino wool keeps its warmth while wet, which is super handy for a damp camping trip or a wintry wild swim. It’s also breathable so you don’t overheat on your weekend Win Hill walk. Our photographer, Joe, described the bobble as ‘lightweight for a bobble’ meaning it won’t weigh you down if you’re popping it on for a spot of mid-winter bouldering.

The Cwtch Beanie has a fold-over headband to keep your ears roasty toasty even on a breezy hike. Our Design Team have specially constructed the Cwtch so you can wear it folded up or folded down for a slouchier fit. And it’s nice and stretchy so it fits even the biggest of brains.

Product Care Information

The Merino wool in this beanie naturally odour resistant so it doesn’t need washing often; hooray, environment! When it absolutely does need it, wash it on a gentle cycle at 40°C. Dry it flat and iron on a low heat if necessary. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry or dry clean. When your partnership with this beanie is over, visit alpkit.com/continuum to find out how you can give it a new lease of life.

Sustainability

How It Is Made

Non-Mulesed Merino Wool

We only use Merino wool from certified non-mulesed sources. Mulesing is a practice some farms use to guard against parasitic fly strike. We believe this practice is cruel and unnecessary and something that can be easily prevented by regular shearing.

Sustainable Materials

Merino wool is 100% natural, biodegradable and renewable (sheep produce new fleece and sheep produce new sheep... usually in spring... they gambol... you know all this...)

Repurposing

If you get a hole in your Cwtch Beanie, just snip another one in the other side and repurpose it as your own Alpkit branded tea cosy. You can thank our Design Team for that ingenious idea!

Where It Is Made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.

All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.

Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.

We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intesnity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.

End of life
When your partnership with this product is over send it back to us and we will pass it on to someone that needs it through our Continuum Project.
