Join one of Woodland Way's qualified foragers to be introduced to the art of foraging and the vast array of wild edibles to be found around us all of the time. Learn the differences between edible and toxic species and try up to 5 premade wild food tasters, from jams to chutneys, syrups and more. The perfect session for friends and families wishing to travel light, eat local, seasonal and fresh wild ingredients.
What to Expect:
This foraging course will aim to give a basic overview of the common seasonal edible plants and fungi you are likely to come across. You'll cover:
- Foraging law and ethics
- Sustainable harvesting techniques
- Plant and fungi ID skills
- Food and medicinal uses of common plants
- Foraging mindset (learn to look not to search)
- Chance to taste some wild edibles
The aim is to cover 20+ common seasonal edibles, and get a good overview of what the season has to offer.

You will be outside for the duration of the course, dress for the weather!

Please meet at the School of Adventure Meeting Point at least 10 minutes before the course starting time to meet your guide and ensure a timely start.

No. You must have a valid Big Shakeout weekend ticket to participate in any School of Adventure Activities. Any orders for activities without a Big Shakeout weekend ticket will be cancelled and refunded.
You will receive an email confirmation with an order reference number upon completing your order. Your order number is your unique reference number, bring it along with you and present it at along with your name at the School of Adventure Meeting Point.
We will do everything we can to make sure your chosen activity goes ahead, however in some circumstances a course may have to be cancelled due to weather or lack of numbers. In these cases we will either offer you a place on an alternative activity or refund.
