Bloc are your boulder-problem solving companions. With them you can reach higher footholds, execute awkward moves and bridge with ease. They’re tough, organic cotton bouldering shorts built for dynamic movement and all-day comfort at the crag. Tackle off-width cracks, powerful heel hooks and delicate layback arêtes from Font to Froggatt.
“For Bloc we wanted to create shorts that are more flexible than you are and would never hold you back mid-climb. A diamond-shape gusseted crotch and a touch of spandex in the fabric both help to keep the limbs loose. The fabric also allowed a slimmer fit than standard so you can see where you’re placing your toes.
Climbing shorts need to be durable, especially if being subjected to rough Peak District grit. Cotton is a naturally hard-wearing material so was the obvious choice. We finished Bloc with a simple, low-profile elastic waistband that’s easy on and comfortable with a harness. Four pockets mean you don’t have to leave valuables hanging around.”
Fabric: 98% Organic cotton, 2% spandex (200gsm)
Wash your shorts on a delicate cycle at 30ºC or handwash with lukewarm water. Use a non-biological detergent or pure soap but don't use fabric conditioners or softeners. Rinse thoroughly in clean water and line dry, or tumble dry at a low heat. Store above dog chewing height.

How It Is MadeOrganic Cotton
These shorts are made from Global Organic Textile Standard certified organic cotton. Organic cotton farming produces significantly less CO₂, uses less water and eliminates the use of harmful pesticides. And it feels great!
Where It Is Made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.
All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.
Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.
We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intesnity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.
