Alpkit joins calls for a Fair Banking Act in Parliament

By David Hanney

In a landmark moment this year, David Hanney was invited to Westminster to speak up for a fairer financial system — joining the call for a Fair Banking Act that puts people and communities first.

Hosted in Parliament by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Fair Business Banking, the event brought together businesses, charities, MPs and campaigners — including actor and activist Michael Sheen — to highlight how broken finance is holding back communities across the UK.

So we put away our fleece and approach shoes for the day and put on our best suit.  We were proud to stand alongside Alpkit Foundation partner organisations and other purpose-led businesses, sharing stories of resilience and calling for practical reforms. From outdoor therapy projects to local bike hubs and social enterprises, the message was clear: good finance can unlock potential.

It felt powerful to meet Alpkit customers right at the heart of UK politics — proof that small businesses and ordinary people deserve a seat at the table.

We're not your typical outdoor brand, and this wasn't your typical day out. But building a better world — through access, adventure and fairness — is exactly why we started Alpkit. And it’s why we’ll keep showing up.
