Warmer feet for longer swims
Cold feet have a habit of ending a swim early. Rydal Yulex Swimming Socks help keep the chill at bay, adding warmth and comfort when the water temperature drops or the distance starts adding up.
Made from 3mm Yulex natural rubber, they provide the insulation needed for cold water dipping, open water training and year-round swimming without feeling bulky or awkward in the water.
Highlights
- 3mm Yulex natural rubber - balances warmth and flexibility for swimming
- Split toe design - improves stability in the water and works with flip flops
- Adjustable ankle cuff - helps reduce water flushing and locks in warmth
- Textured sole grip - secure footing on wet rocks, slipways and jetties
- Comfortable seams - blind-stitched construction sits smoothly against the skin
- Lower impact materials - natural rubber from certified deforestation-free sources
Built for cold water comfort
Whether you're dipping through winter, swimming skins in spring or stretching out a summer lake swim, keeping your feet warm can make a surprising difference to how long you stay comfortable in the water.
Rydal uses 3mm Yulex natural rubber throughout, providing extra insulation while retaining the flexibility needed for swimming. The split toe design helps prevent the foot from rolling in the water, giving a more stable and natural feel when swimming. As a bonus, it also means you can wear flip flops on the walk down to the water's edge without having to remove your socks first.
An adjustable ankle cuff helps create a closer seal around the ankle, reducing water flushing and helping maintain warmth throughout your swim. Blind-stitched seams improve comfort against bare skin, while the hexagonal grip pattern on the sole provides extra traction when navigating wet rocks, slippery slipways and algae-covered steps.
Choose Rydal for...
Cold water dips where keeping your feet warm makes all the difference. Longer training swims when your toes usually decide they're finished before the rest of you. Early-season lake swims, shoulder-season river adventures and year-round open water sessions where a little extra insulation helps you stay comfortable for longer.
Perfect paired with a wetsuit, but equally useful for skins swimmers looking to extend their time in the water.
Super natural performance
We've designed the Rydal using 3mm Yulex - a natural rubber foam from internationally certified deforestation-free sources. It's a plant-based alternative to traditional neoprene for swimmers who refuse to compromise between comfort, performance and the planet.
Designer's notes
"Introducing our new Yulex range is something we're incredibly proud of. The latest Yulex 2.0 materials are more flexible than ever allowing us to develop an open water swim collection using the technology without compromising performance. As a brand, we're always looking for innovative materials which are less impactful to the planet so Yulex is a natural step forward in our sustainable, versatile swim range."

Sustainability and Product Care
Care and repair
Store your socks flat to avoid stretching and avoid folding. To maximise their lifespan we strongly recommend rinsing with fresh cold water after every use (especially if used in the sea). If you need to give them a more thorough clean, hand wash in cold water and leave to air dry away from direct sunlight. Do not machine wash, bleach, tumble dry, iron or dry clean.
Repairs
We have dedicated Repair Stations in our stores and we're fully equipped to breathe new life into your old kit. This includes spare parts, patches, new zips and wash and reproofing of your down and waterproofs. Pop into any store or contact us online for more info.

How it is made
Yulex Natural Rubber
Rydal is made using Yulex - a PEFC and FSC certified natural rubber alternative to traditional neoprene - which makes it one of the most sustainable pieces in our range.
Where it is made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.
All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.
Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.
We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intesnity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.
End of life
When your partnership with this product is over send it back to us and we will pass it on to someone that needs it through our Continuum Project.
