Every year at our Big Shakeout Festival we team up with the wonderful people at Thornbridge Outdoors in the Peak District and we deliver over 1200 course places in all kinds of activities.

These courses enable participants to go nice places and try new things, on top of these we try and host as many extra activities on site as we can so that everyone who attends gets to enjoy some adventurous activity. But we are limited to how many people we can get on site so we wanted to open up these oppurtunities to a wider range of people.

So we sat down with Ed and his team of expert instructors to see what we could do. We came up with an extension of our School of Adventure (SofA) courses but this time run from our Alpkit Hathersage store.

Don't get stuck on the sofa, join the SofA. Over the next few months we have a range of activities and sessions running:

8th October -MTB Ride I
Come on a guided ride in the Peak District and hone your skills on the local terrain.

(Max group size is 8 and minimum age is 14)

15th October - Intro toBouldering
Make the jump from indoor to outdoor climbing and enjoy some of the world class boulders the Peak has to offer.

(Max group size is 6 and minimum age is 14)

15th October - Intro to Climbing
Learn the ropes of outdoor climbing on some of the best rock in the world.

(Max group size is 6 and minimum age is 10)

29th October -Family Weaseling
Have you ever wondered how to spice up your walks and make them more exciting for the kids no matter their size?

(Max group size is 8 and minimum age is 6)

5th November -Wet and Wild Caving
Discover what lies underground, explore the inside of the Peak District and what lies underneath its peaks and valleys.

(Max group size is 10 and minimum age is 12)

12th November -MTB Ride II
Come on a guided ride in the Peak District and hone your skills on the local terrain.

(Max group size is 8 and minimum age is 14)

19th November -Navigational Skills
This practical course aims to equip you with the skills to plan walks, and the confidence to strike out off the beaten track.

(Max group size is 8 and minimum age is 13)

3rd December -MTB Ride II
Come on a guided ride in the Peak District and hone your skills on the local terrain.

(Max group size is 8 and minimum age is 14)

For each activity the start time is 9:30 am at the Hathersage store (Main Road, Hathersage, Hope Valley, Derbyshire S32 1BB)

It will be necessary to bring your own food and drink and to be adequately dressed and prepared for each activity, any specialist eqiuipment will be provided by your instructor. Courses will finish back at the store at 4pm.

Simply call the Alpkit Hathersage store and they will book you on the chosen activity and provide any specific details you may need to know relating to timings, locations, equipment etc. (Keep an eye on the Hathersage store page where we'll be updating the events asap)

How Much?

Real price: %25pp; You pay: %15pp

Each Activity is costs %25 per person to run. However, the cost is subsidised by the Alpkit Foundation who are kindly providing funding to help you Go Nice Places Do Good Thing,so the cost is reduced to %15 per person.

Instructors
All instructors for each activity are provided through local centre Thornbridge Outdoors.
