Behind the Seams: A Deep Dive Into Our New Swimwear Collection

By Kenny Stocker

Alongside the launch of our new Yulex wetsuits, we're introducing two fresh designs—Nessie and Baltic—and unveiling a complete redesign of seam placements across the range.

Outdoor swimming isn’t just a sport — it’s a feeling. A cold shock. A moment of stillness. A connection to the landscape. From frosty lochs to lazy summer dips, the UK’s full of folks stripping off and diving in. They just can't help themselves.

Our swimwear range is designed for those who embrace the wildness of swimming in mountain tarns, rivers and seas across the UK. And this season, we’ve taken everything we’ve learned from testing in cold water and made our best collection yet.

Welcome to the behind the seams look at the thought, trials, and passion that shaped our latest pieces — Nessie, Baltic, and revamped favourites like Nefyn and Dulsie.

April really is a month full of change in our outdoor swimming collection. On top of the new Yulex swimming wetuits– we have two new additions Nessie and Baltic – plus a total rethink of seam placements across the board. If you’ve ever cursed a chafe mid-crawl or felt like your suit was restricting your stroke, you’ll nod approvingly. Seams have been moved, angles softened, fits tweaked – it’s all been done by swimmers, for swimmers.

Sustainable by Nature, Crafted with Care

Let’s start with the fabric. Every piece is made in our Moldovan factory using Italian performance fabric found in top-tier swim brands. But what sets us apart is the fit: carefully honed by our design team to stretch where you want and support where you need. Tested by our community, and tuned for real people who love the outdoors.

We use regenerated ECONYL® nylon, a post-consumer recycled yarn sourced from waste like fishing nets. It's tough on wear, soft on skin, and helps us leave less mess behind. Spun into chlorine-resistant, sun-cream-proof suits that have been designed for sustainability without sacrificing performance.

Key features of our swimwear fabric:

  • Breathable and quick-drying
  • Hyper-resistant to chlorine, sun cream and oils
  • Stretchy and supportive, keeping its shape and compression when wet
  • Versatile enough to use across multiple activities such as yoga and cycle

What we have updated

Let's look at what we have refreshed in our current products: The Nefyn now flatters and flexes with V-back seams and raised waistbands. Dulsie’s had a zip tweak to stop the dreaded wiggle.

Nefyn Top & Bottom

  • Longer top for improved coverage and comfort
  • New seam placement: Flat front panel with gusset for freedom of movement and flattering soft V-back waistband
  • Strap angle tweaked so it stays put on your shoulders
  • Slight waist raise for a secure fit without losing that low-rise look

Dulsie

  • Added a self-fabric zip tab to stop zip wiggling and make changing fuss-free
  • Higher side leg cut for a smooth, non-restrictive fit

What's new

It's the new we are most excited about. Nessie is your go-to for active dips and paddleboard play – shortie cut, cam-lock zip, movement-first design. Then there’s the Baltic top & bottom – power mesh, cam-lock zips and high waist support. It’s sleek, secure, and totally confidence-boosting.

Nessie: Dulsie's Adventurous Sister

Think of Nessie as the shortie version of Dulsie.

  • Front zip with cam-lock: holds firm, opens easy
  • Full-length sleeves, shortie leg — great for chilly swims or active days on the water
  • Clever seam placement shapes the body naturally, prioritising comfort and articulation

Perfect for: river dips, SUP paddles, kayak scrambles, and looking the part in cold water.

Baltic Top & Bottom

Strong, supportive, and stylish.

  • Fully lined with power mesh for sculpting support
  • Princess seams and a deep underbust band for bust lift and comfort
  • High-rise bottoms with a deep waistband for security on the move
  • High-leg cut, medium-full coverage back: flattering without compromise

Designed by outdoor swimmers, for outdoor swimmers

The range has been tested in chilly lakes, breezy rivers and the unpredictable British sea. And it’s ready for your next plunge.

We don’t just design for the outdoors — we live it. Our development process starts with the water: testing gear in UK lakes, rivers to understand how it performs under real-world conditions. Whether it’s breaststroke on a misty loch or backstroke under a summer sun, every Alpkit swim piece is designed to move with you — offering natural freedom, warmth, and support.

This is swimwear for water lovers. For those who dive in, paddle out, and embrace the thrill of cold, wild places.

So as the season opens and the lakes call, take a moment to appreciate what’s behind the seams.
