Crafting memories in the enchanting landscapes of Iceland, a journey of discovery and wonder.
The Shipwrecked Rambler, Klara Harden embarked on a solo voyage across Iceland and to document the journey. Enjoy the photos. The film will be premiering at our Big Shakeout 15th October.
It feels like I’ve never been away, because what was experienced was so different from the usual, that it seems absurd to believe it could be reality.
I came to Iceland to search for adventure and solitude. And right in the moment when I reached my goals, I realised that I ran into the arms of my biggest enemies. It was not the longest, hardest or most adventurous hike ever done. I didn’t brake any world records. But I broke all my own records and crossed all my own borders. It was the longest, hardest and most adventurous thing I have ever done. And I loved it.
I had never been so exhausted, so happy, so tired, so entirely bored of my own thoughts, so lonely, so hungry and so alive as ever before.
I haven’t finished my hike through Iceland yet. Working on the footage and editing the film is a big part of my journey. And it feels like a very unique experience!
I was sitting on the bus back to Reykjavik when I found this quote from Mark Twain on the booklet with the bus schedules. And it somehow summed up, why we should all follow our dreams.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
