At 285g, the Kloke is one of the lightest 3-layer waterproof bivvy bags on the market. It's a highly packable shelter that's ideal for Alpine bivouacs, lightweight bikepacking and adventure racing.

  • Ultralight and packable for lightweight adventures
  • Exceptionally waterproof and breathable
  • Zipped hood closure for extra weather protection

The Kloke uses a ultrafine 10 denier nylon fabric to sandwich the PU membrane. It's one of the lightest 3-layer waterproof fabrics we could find, providing reliable performance for the lowest pack weight possible. This fabric is highly breathable (30k MVTR) which drastically reduces condensation build-up on the inside of the bag.

The Kloke’s zipped closure (with external storm flap) provides extra protection so you can close off bad weather when the clouds roll in. You’ll need to leave a gap of about 6 inches for airflow though, so we’ve used a 2-way zip that lets allows you to position your air hole. (A wet nose is better than hypoxia... or worse! Gulp.)

When it’s time to get up and hit the road again, the Kloke packs back down to a miniscule 20 x 12 cm – smaller if you compress it. It’s so minuscule that you can throw it in the lid of your pack as an emergency shelter when getting benighted looks a distinct possibility – maybe the Cuillin Ridge in a day was a tad ambitious this time!

The Kloke has greater volume than our Hunka bivvy bag so you can use it with a 4-season/alpine sleeping bag, along with your sleeping mat. As a guide, 6ft 4" Product Developer Rowan easily fits into the Kloke with his winter sleep system.

SAFETY NOTE
Always keep the zipper open enough to provide adequate ventilation to prevent suffocation.

Sustainability and Product Care

Product Care Information

Caring For Your DWR
To maintain the high performance of your bivvy bag, we recommend you wash it regularly and re-proof it once or twice a year (depending on usage). This keeps the DWR working at its best, maintaining breathability. Wash it with pure soap or a specialist cleaner (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash) and use a wash-in or spray-on reproofer.

Washing Instructions
Wash on a delicate cycle at 30˚C or hand wash with lukewarm water. Use a technical wash product or pure soap. DO NOT use detergent, fabric conditioners or softeners. Rinse thoroughly in clean water. Line dry or tumble dry on low heat with the zips closed. Use a cool iron to reactivate the DWR.

Repairs
We have dedicated Repair Stations in our stores and we're fully equipped to breathe new life into your old kit. This includes spare parts, patches, new zips and wash and reproofing of your down and waterproofs. Pop into any store or contact us online for more info.

Sustainability

How It Is Made

PFC-Free DWR
The Kloke uses a completely PFC-free DWR treatment on its outer fabric. PFCs are potentially harmful and have been found to build up in the environment. We don't like the sound of that and we are one of the first outdoor brands in the world to completely eliminate them from our range.

Recycled Materials
The Kloke's fabric is 100% recycled nylon, made from post-industrial recycled content. This uses up leftover matter from nylon production, as well as fabric scraps from the cutting process, to remake it into brand new nylon fabric!

Where It Is Made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.

All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.

Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.

We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intesnity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.

End of life
When your partnership with this product is over send it back to us and we will pass it on to someone that needs it through our Continuum Project.
