Join us for an Easter Extravaganza
To celebrate a long Easterweekend of going nice places, doing good things and eating chocolate eggs, we thought we’d play host to a few extra activitiesto help anyone wanting to build on their adventure skills for the year ahead.
No matter what your activity of choice, be it running, riding, paddling or climbing, there’ll be someone around to talk to about how to hone in on your skills and smash your season targets.
Drop in to our stores and get some great advice on where to go, what to do and when to do it. there'splenty of adventure advice on handto further inspire your adventurous spirits.
Oh yeah, and if all that isn’t enough, we’ll have tea, coffee and cake (yes, free cake!) to help fuel you through a weekend of activities. Here’s a little more info so you know what’s going on and where.
Whats happening in the Alpkit stores this week?
Throughout this week at Hathersage, Ambleside and Keswickyou can pop in and enjoytea and coffee to your hearts content, maybe enjoy a piece of cakeand even get your gear repaired in our repair station. Plus, if you have any used or unwanted gear, bring it in and donate it to the Continuum Project, that way we can find it a home with someone who needs it.
Each store will also have their own easter egg hunts, instore competitions and other ad-hoc events going on - so as well as teh events belowdo pop in and check thenotice and events boards.
Wednesday 17th April
Social Swim with Alpkit Ambleside.
A sure-fire way to kick start your day - a dip in Windermere with the Alpkit Ambleside store heroes!
Meeting at Borrans Park Observatory for 8am, hold your breath and make a splash!
Hot coffee (and maybe some fresh croissants too!) will be brought down to the shore to warm you back up.
Injury Prevention forRunners - AlpkitKeswick
Join us at Alpkit Keswick for a session on avoiding those pesky running injuries!
Maybe you're in training for a Bob Graham Round, preparing for the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon or just want to get out on the hills a little more often. Whatever it is and however great (or not so great) a runner you are, the potential for injuring ourselves when out on a run is probably much higher than we'd all like to admit, so why not gain some expert knowledge on how to avoid those injuries by joining Keswick Store Hero Lee for a session in injury prevention.

School of Adventure MTB Skills dayin conjunction with pur Hathersage store but based at Thornbridge Hall near Bakewell.
Want to taking jumps and bigger drops with more control? This is the course for you.
Based at the skills park atThornbridge Outdoors, this course focuses on the key skills required to develop your jumping at any level and to handle drop-offs confidently. You’ll look at footwork, body and head position as well as energy management (pumping). Your coach will assess your current riding and identify areas for improvement before progressing and adding new skills to your riding toolbox.
Alpkit Easter Trail Ride with Adventure Pedlars - from Hathersage
Come and join us for a Free Easter social trail ride at Alpkit Hathersage.
Alpkiteer and Adventure Pedlar, Pete McNeil will be heading out for a 3hr (or so) off-road bike ride with anyone who wants to show up and join him. As social ride, the pace will be relaxed, dictated by the slowest rider, and there'll be plenty of time to chat and take in the beautiful Peak District scenery right on our doorstep. Help us celebrate Spring and get the chance to quiz Pete on any of his epic cycling adventures, from round the world touring to bikepacking adventures or The Silk Road Mountain Race.
Meet at the Hathersage shop for an 10:30am start where there'll be tea and coffee on tap before and after.

Introduction to fell running with Dave Taylor

Have you ever wanted to have a go at fell running but aren't sure where to go or what you need? Or maybe you've already tried it but want to learn more and improve your technique.
Head out on the hills for a guided run over the type of terrain you'd encounter on a fell run / fell race. Plus some coaching tips for dealing with uphill, downhill and rough ground.
You don't need to be super fit to take part as the run will be stop / start and done at an easy pace although there will be some hills. (As a guide you should be able to run 10k in 60 mins)
Length of run approximately 8km (5 miles)
You'll also have the chance to askfell running guideDave Taylor about any kit advice and what you should take out with you in order to be prepared for anything.
Places fill up quickly, so if you want to guarantee your place on any of the activities above, we highly recommend you book your place quickly.
As well as lots going on in stores we'll be running an Easter Eggstravaganza treasure hunt, each day we'll reveal the location of a secret stash of treasure.
We'll be hiding one of our iconinc Swigg bottles containing some special goodies in some far flung and not so far flung places over the Easter weekend, starting Good Friday there will be 4opportunities to find a Treasure trove.
All locations will be shared via our social channels with a mix of clues as to the locations.
