Milford Men’s – warm, breathable, and naturally better. Milford is made from pure ultrafine merino wool, giving you all the warmth, breathability, and pong-free performance of nature’s original technical fabric — in a midlayer that looks as good as it performs.
Naturally warm. Comfortably smart.
-
260gsm pure merino wool – insulating, breathable, and soft
-
Ultrafine 17.5 micron fibres – warm without the itch
-
Loop-back fabric traps warmth, manages moisture, and adds structure
-
Button-up collar for draught protection and easy venting
-
Slim fit – ideal over a base layer or worn solo
Double down on merino. Layer right. Stay comfortable.
Milford is warm enough to wear as a standalone top in milder conditions, and slim enough to layer easily over a base layer and under a shell. When worn over merino, it creates a double layer of natural warmth and moisture management — wicking sweat outwards and keeping you dry, not clammy, when you’re working hard.
The loop-back fabric feels like your favourite sweatshirt, but performs like technical kit. Soft against skin, it traps warm air without feeling bulky and keeps you comfortable even when it’s damp. And because merino is naturally odour-resistant, Milford stays fresh after days of use — ideal for hut-to-hut trips, wild camps, or train-to-trail days where there’s no laundry stop in sight.
Responsibly sourced. Seriously reliable.
Made from 100% non-mulesed merino wool, certified to the Responsible Wool Standard, Milford is built for real-world use. It’s breathable, renewable, pong-free, and backed by our 3-Year Alpine Bond.

How It Is Made
Non-mulesed Merino
We only use merino from certified non-mulesed sources. Mulesing is a practice some farms use to guard against parasitic fly strike. We believe this practice is cruel and unnecessary and something that can be easily prevented by regular shearing.
Natural Fibre Materials
Merino wool is 100% natural, biodegradable and renewable (sheep produce new fleece and sheep produce new sheep... usually in spring... they gambol... you know all this...)
Where It Is Made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.
All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.
Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.
We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intesnity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.
