Fortitude

Hillwalking waterproof jacket

£199.99

Designed for maximum protection in bad weather with a longer cut, a regular fit for layering and a tough 100% recycled outer: a hillwalking 3-layer waterproof jacket built for days in the hills.

Keep the outside out

The classic, all-weather waterproof every UK hillwalker needs to own (but hopes they wont need to use!). Hardshell protection for horizontal squalls, driving winds and so-hard-it’s-raining-upwards downpours. For those dawn to dusk days on the hill; earning the good weather.

Fortitude is our most sustainable waterproof to date and has set a new standard in environmentally preferable waterproofs. Merging high performance technologies with environmentally responsible choices.

It's got a longer cut because the rain never stops at waist height, and a relaxed fit to give plenty of room for layers on colder days. The tough 100% recycled outer features our PFC-free durable water repellant, meaning it doesn't leave any nasty chemicals in the wild places we love.

Iron: Use a cool iron to reactivate the DWR.

Caring for your DWR

To keep your jacket’s DWR treatment in good condition, wash it regularly in pure soap or a specialist cleaner. You may also need to refresh the treatment once or twice a year dependent on usage. Use a spray-on reproofer to maintain your jacket's wicking ability.

Designer's notes

“For Fortitude we’ve merged high performance technology with environmentally responsible choices to create a hardshell that hits back in rough weather. When you’ve a big day in the hills planned, you want a jacket that’ll give reliable protection and excellent coverage from everything the elements can throw at you. Fortitude’s longer cut and 3-layer construction fit the bill.

We needed to protect against the rough and tumble of the hills too so have used 70D polyester on the outer that’s super hardwearing and made from 100% recycled content. Fortitude is designed it to work as part of a hillwalking system: a regular fit for layers, main pockets that can be accessed while wearing a pack, a chest pocket that’ll fit an OS map and an adjustable fit and storm flaps to keep the outside out.”

Environmentally preferable materials

Recycled materials

Fortitude uses a 100% recycled polyester outer fabric, made from post-industrial sources. This uses any leftover stuff from polyester production and fabric scraps from the cutting process and remakes it into brand new fabric.

PFC-free DWR

Fortitude has a completely PFC-free DWR treatment on its outer fabric. PFCs are potentially harmful and have been found to build up in the environment. We don't like the sound of that and are one of the first outdoor brands in the world to eliminate them from our range.

Carbon footprint and end of life

Reducing our carbon footprint

We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.

We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiativewhich sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intensity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.

End of life

When your partnership with this product is over send it back to us and we will pass it on to someone that needs it through our Continuum Project.
