593 Swanley Squadron Air Cadets find purpose and passion with Alpkit Foundation’s support. Every hike and paddle fuels their leadership and team spirit.
The Alpkit Foundation is delighted to support 593 (Swanley) Squadron Air Cadets. They would like to provide their Air Cadets, aged 12 - 20, with an introduction to climbing. The project aims to develop the cadets team work and communication skills by exposing the participants to a dynamic and pressured situation. The 25 cadets on the squadron are from a variety of backgrounds, and would greatly benefit from this opportunity, allowing them to experience a new and exciting challenge.
Paul, from 593 (Swanley) Squadron Air Cadets explains why this project is important to both him, and the cadets. “This project is being conducted in order to improve the cadets health and fitness as well as giving them exposure to a challenging outdoor sport. Developing their decision making in a high pressured environment, training them to remain calm. We are looking to develop and foster the spirit of adventure within the cadets.”
Funding from the Alpkit Foundation will help purchase the safety equipment required. It is also hoped that staff development courses will also run, to develop interest in gaining personal awards such as CWA / SPA.
