"Would you trust your life to a battery?" say the sage, old mountain guides. No, but then we probably wouldn't trust most of our mates with a map and compass either! Better to take our own!

Williams Compass

The Williams Compass is an expedition compass designed with OS, BMC and Harvey maps in mind. Distance markers on the base plate allow you to calculate how far you've got to go without calculating scales in your head. You will also find the standard grid markings for reading and making precise 6 figure grid references.

The bearing dial is filled with damping oil which stops the needle from bouncing around for micro-navigating, and the needle itself is reflective, making it ideal for night navigation.

Williams Map Case

The Williams Map Case is designed to protect your map even in atrocious conditions. The welded seams and velcro-sealed roll-top construction are fully waterproof, keeping wet weather on the outside. We’ve also used hard-wearing hypalon tabs stop your map from ripping free in the middle of a gale.

The transparent TPU pocket provides a clear window for navigation on both sides and provides extra grip for your compass when you’re taking your bearings. This flexible material makes it easier to follow your route over the creases (those tricksy creases) and fold your map up to stow in your jacket or rucksack pockets.
