Guided open water swimming skills workshop in Derwentwater
Join us at Alpkit Keswick on August 21st for a session on planning your next swim adventure led by Ali of Always Swimming Wild, including a breakfast swim in Derwentwater.
As part of the Alpkit Keswick School of Adventure weekend we are working with Ali at Always Swimming Wild to bring you a skills based Wild Swimming Session. This will focus on planning your next wild swim adventure and include loads of useful information to help you enjoy the open water.
This workshop is designed for people who already swim outdoors and are looking to learn something new or refine some skills to prepare for future swims. This session is family friendly, please make sure that all under 18’s are accompanied by an adult and can swim competently.
Ali, our resident open water swimming guide will take you to Derwentwater (10 min walk) for your swim and adventure planning session.
This will include:
Kit for short swims and long swims
A swim in Derwentwater (This can be done in a swimsuit or wetsuit but will be at a relaxed pace)
What to look for in a swim journey or swim spot
Swimming rescues
Planning a swim trip and useful resources
What to bring
Swimsuit and a towel
Goggles and a swim hat (if desired)
Warm layers, even on a hot day.
Food and water
Your own wetsuit (if you have one) – you will be in the water for 30-45 minutes
Neoprene socks and gloves will be provided
These are skills courses so there will be some degree of pausing to learn before and after being in the water. There will be some snacks and drinks at Alpkit Keswick for when you’re finished.
The session will start at 7:00am at Alpkit Keswick, lasting approx. 2 hours
Tickets cost £15 with 10 spaces available
