TGO Awards voting closes 20th October

By Kenny Stocker

A big thanks to everyone who put our name forward for this years TGO magazine awards and would you believe there were enough of you for us to make the short list in the Best Online Retailer category! It is always a great honour to be nominated for an award, and it is always nice to see the support team go home at the end of the day with a hop and a skip.

But we are not the only ones to make the cut so here is our shortlisted movers and shakers. We are glad to see Open Air of Cambridge in the Independent retailer category. Sporting colourful clothing and long floppy hair it was here that Alpkit Jim started working in the industry. In the chain category we have to give credit to Go Outdoors. When Ken and Nick lived in Sheffield it was a little shop in a warehouse around the back of the Edge Climbing Centre.. and just look at it now. So who is in Online Retailer with us? Great to see BackpackingLight there, Bob and Rose started around about the same time as us, we went to a lot of the same shows as they did and we tuned in regularly to Bobs podcasts. We can't really say a lot about the Accommodation Providers as none of us have personally stayed with them however Pubs we know something about, and having been in most of them, and bound to revisit sometime soon, we are going to have to say we love them all!

Moving on to Environmental, the Recycle Outdoor Gear initiative gets a big thumbs up from us, so good luck to Sarah Howcroft who is also in the Outdoor Personality category, we will certainly be keeping our eyes on the project. Outdoor Book of the year? Looks like we have some reading to do!

You have until the 20th October to place your votes.
