We got an excited e-mail from Sally:
" I have been selected to represent GB at the Trail World Championships in Annecy on the 30th May 2015!
This will be my first time running in a GB vest! I started running with 10k's and half marathons 9 years ago but found the longer the distance the better I performed. I have completed 8 marathons, finally gaining a sub 3 last year in Amsterdam, with that I turned my back on road running, opting for the fun of trail and fell races instead. My first ultra marathon was Ultra Tour of the Peaks in 2012, I have since completed 9 varying from 30-60 miles. Longer fell races (15+miles) are also among my favorite races, particularly those with a lot of ascent!
Since discovering I was selected, my training for Annecy has involved a weekly average of 100k and 2800m ascent over 6-7 runs. I have thoroughly involved the training, living close to, but working in the Peaks has allowed my to explore the local hills, occasionally in reps of 3 up Winn Hill! As a physiotherapist I have been sensible in my training approach, slowing down a lot of the long runs and dealing with any niggles at the first opportunity. I also lead 3 weekly Strength and Conditioning for Runner's classes, vital in allowing me to train for several hours per week."
Sally has an Alpkit Viper for training and to carry on longer distance races - best of luck out in Annecy, from all the Alpkit team.
