You may have noticed that late in December last year, amongst all the hectic, last minute Christmas shopping, we opened our 3rd store in Keswick.Well, now things have calmed down (so to speak) we thought we'd throw a bit of a shin-dig to celebrate! We'd like to welcome anyone in to join us, from the lovely locals to anyone else that happens to be visiting that day.
Throughout the day, we'll be on hand to offer any helpful advice you need for your Lake District adventures (or further afield). Plus, not only will you be able to take a Sonder demo bike for a spin, but we'll also have the new range of bouldering pads for you to take out for your own testing. And in true Alpkit style, there will of course be tea, plenty of coffee and enough cake to feed the town!
To really get the party going, in the eveningwe'll be playing host to some very special guests, so be sure to book your tickets to guarantee a seat...
Vedangi Kulkarni - Welcome Home!
Help us in welcoming home Vedangi, the youngest female to circumnavigate the globe by bicycle!
Vedangi will be hanging around for most of the day with famed bike 'Cappuccino' to answer any questions about her trip. In the evening though, Vedangi will be revealing all about her trip. She'll take us through the lows, the highs and everything in between. From visa issues and food poisoning, to compassionate people that would stop at nothing to help her.. we can't wait to hear the full story!
Judith Brown - 'Through the Snow'
Nurturing her passions for mountaineering, the natural world and writing for the past 30 years whilst livingin the Lake District, Judith will be inspiring us all with a reading from her beautiful piece of writing published in 'Waymaking'.
'Through the Snow' details the account of a winter ascent of Helvellyn. In thick snow and ice, Judith will be taking you on such a journey that you'll forget you're in the room!
MiniPips & Rich - 'Third Time's the Charm'
You'll probably know father and son duo Rich and Tom Seipp from taking part in such great adventures as the French Divide, Strathpuffer and Everesting on their Sonder bikes. This time though, they'll be telling Daring Deeds of the Highland Trail 550.
Back in 2017, 12 year old Tom completed the 550 mile, self-supported bike race through the Scottish highlands. This however, was not the first attempt.
Join Tom and dad Rich on Saturday evening as they take you through the trials and tribulations of attempting such a race... Blood, sweat and tears doesn't quite cover it!
If you need any further information on the event, hiring demo bikes or bouldering pads or need some local adventure advice, simply give Abby, Ali or any of the other friendly folks at Alpkit Keswick a call on -01768 721287
See you there!
