Dipping in Cumbrian waters - Crummock / Sun, February 23, 2020

Start your Sunday right with a morning swim, breakfast bap and shoreside beach clean with Alpkit Keswick!

After a short break over the festive season Alpkit Keswick are back with their challenge to dip in all of the Lake District's major bodies of water. This time it's Crummock Water!

We will meet at Crummock South Beach (along the B5289) where there is some on-road parking. Once parked just head towards the lake and you'll se us! We will be dipping at 8:30am, followed by breakfast baps - bring your own sausage - and then a shoreside beach clean.

The dip will be however far or long as you like, you can wear anything from your wetsuit to your birthday suit to a 3 piece suit! If you just wanted to stay for the dip or just come to watch, thats absolutely fine too. This is a social event so no experience is necessary and everyone swims within their own capabilities.

To warm up after we will have some stoves going for your own breakfast baps. Please bring your own filling. We will have some all important brews on the go as well to warm up those fingers.

After we have a bit of feeling back we will walk along the south shoreline for a 30 minute litter pick/beach clean. We are super passionate about keeping the Lake District, our home, as clean and beautiful as we can. Doing a beach clean for even 30 minutes will help us continue to #goniceplacesdogoodthings :)

Dogs are more than welcome! as long as they don't pinch the sausages!

If you don't know already, NZ pygmy weed is present in all lakes except Buttermere, Crummock, Ennerdale and Wastwater. So if anyone visits a contaminated one for a swim, please be sure to thoroughly clean anything you have swam in and dry off before going into any of the pristine lakes. If you would like any more information, this is a great write up by the outdoor Swimming Society:

Tickets are free so tell your friends! Time to start praying for some kind weather!
