So after the two previous rounds of the Youth Climbing Series at the Foundry in Sheffield and the Nottingham climbing wall the Junior Team were looking in excellent form and just preparing themselves to open that final keg of whoopass!
Out of the team Billy and Gracie were looking to keep their winning streaks as they were unbeaten in the bouldering or routes in previous comps, Alfie who had won one round just needed to keep a cool head during the competition to be sure of a place in the final which he managed very well and came first in this round overall winning his category.
In the girls oldest group (they are getting on a bit) Nat Graham unfortunately could not compete due to running out of talent half way up the wall the previous week, falling off and breaking her leg… Can we wish Nat the best and get back soon because we miss you!
Also for her sister Ailsa it was her last time in the YCS as she will now be too old for this competition so well done. Taking second and third were the two Tilley sisters Naomi and Flo who climbed excellently throughout and will be joining Little Miss Strong (Gracie) in the final, meaning that we have a rather strong team of girlies going into the final, watch this space. Also competing in the category was Beth Hoyland and Beth Garratt who came 4th and 7th.
In the boys mid category we had Alfie, Alex and Joe. Alex and Joe have not been competing for that long and are the youngest in their category so they have a couple more years to catch up some of the older boys. Even still they managed an impressive 4th and 5th position just missing out on the finals for this year but Alfie cruised though to the finals.
Georgia Hoyland put on an great show throughout the competition just missing out on first place but will qualify for the finals and Ellan Main who was also in the girls mid category just missed out coming 6th overall.
A Massive well done goes to “Billy the beast Ridal” and “Gracie gun show Martin” who flashed almost every problem and route during the competition qualifying in first place overall.
